TONY DAWSON
ZOO
EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR

Tony Dawson, Zoo Construction Worker II, is the Zoo’s 2004 Employee of the Year.  Tony has been employed by the City for four years.  During the past four years, Tony has shown a remarkable knack for completing any task assigned to him in a timely and quality manner.  Whether he is asked to build an animal cage or climb on top of the tallest Zoo building to fix something, or move, load, unload multiple times over 50 decorated fiberglass pigs, he has done so in an enthusiastic way.  No job is too big or small for Tony.  He is always helpful and willing to serve for the benefit of the Zoo.

Tony was assigned the task of monitoring the Zoo’s Wastewater Management program and its EPA permit.  He took the initiative to study the criteria and learn the ins and outs of managing the Zoo’s wastewater system.  Tony now has the knowledge and skills to complete all of the Zoo’s wastewater permit reports and to supervise the monitoring requirements.

In Tony’s position, he is required to work with a variety of people with different personalities, who all feel their needs have the highest priority.  His positive attitude allows him to meet the demands of each individual, making them feel that their needs have been met in a timely manner.

Tony is always helpful with Zoo visitors who need assistance even to the point of helping start cars on the parking lots.

Tony has a daughter and stepdaughter.  He is a camera buff and has done extensive research on the Dawson family genealogy.

Tony Dawson is shining example of an outstanding City of Little Rock employee.
