Port Authority


The Little Rock Port Authority was created by Arkansas Code Annotated 14-186-203 - Little Rock City Code, Section 25-1, 2. Its five members serve five-year terms. The duties of the Port Authority are to perform any function which may tend to develop and improve the harbors, ports, river rail or barge terminals of the City, and to increase the movement of commerce through them.
Members are appointed by the Little Rock Board of Directors.

The Little Rock Port Authority meets the third Wednesday of each month at noon in the Port Authority Building, 7500 Lindsey Road

Racial and Cultural Diversity Commission

The Little Rock Racial and Cultural Diversity Commission is committed to collaborating with individuals and organizations in an effort to realize goals for equity in all facets of our community.

The success of the Commission is directly reliant upon the involvement of the community as a whole. The Commission’s mission is to ensure that all the residents of the City and all persons subject to its jurisdiction enjoy equal freedom to pursue their aspirations without discrimination because of race, ethnicity, color or national origin.

Goals and Objectives


Goal I: The Commission as a Body and As Individuals Will Serve as Good Role Models to the Community.

Goal II: The Commission Will Provide Educational Opportunities to the Community To Enhance its Understanding and Expand its Perspective of the Value of Diversity, and Inspire the Community to Act Diligently as Models of this Valuing Process in Order to Redefine How We Relate to One Another.

Goal III: The Commission Will Collaborate with Individuals, Groups, Organizations and Other Entities to Empower Institutions to Change Policies and Procedures Which Perpetuate Systems and Patterns of Institutional Racism to Ones that Create an Environment that Values Diversity.

The Little Rock Racial and Cultural Diversity Commission is committed to collaborating with individuals and organizations in an effort to realize goals for equity in all facets of our community.

The success of the Commission is directly reliant upon the involvement of the community as a whole. If the Commission is to be effective, we must identify areas of concern together and resolve these matters in the best possible manner. The Commission has established goals to guide their work.

Worldfest Activities

World Rhythm Stage – a wide variety of international music on the Amphitheater Stage

Global Imagination – inclusive variety of roving entertainment-dance, fashion and drama

Cultures of the World - (Much like a science fair) Schools would create a tri-fold board with information (geography, history, culture, etc) to display. Students should be prepared to tell visitors highlights and interesting facts about the country they are representing.

Global Games – opportunities to present a variety of games and teach their history

Kids World – opportunities to present a wide range of interactive activities for children

Walk of Nations – presents booths about countries around the world and cultural displays

The Healing Racism Institute

The Healing Racism Institute provides citizens of Little Rock the opportunity to come together and dialogue about racism and issues surrounding racism.

River Market District Design Review Committee

Created by City Ordinance No. 17,240, the mission of the River Market District Design Review Committee is to review proposed physical design elements to ensure appropriate design and compatible development and to protect the visual integrity and quality of the district. Members of this Committee shall consist of 3 Positions representing property owners within the District, 1 Position representing the entity hired by the City to manage the River Market, and 1 Position of a design professional with experience in historic preservation, such as an architect, engineer, planner or landscape architect with each member serving three year terms.

Meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month at 8:30 a.m. at the River Market Conference Room.
