Senior Programs

Little Rock Parks and Recreation offers various programs and activities for persons 55 years of age and older.  Activities provide opportunities for senior adults to use their leisure time to travel, pursue old hobbies and learn new ones, increase knowledge, socialize with friends or meet new ones, become physically fit and much more.  For general information, call 371-6854.

Senior Activity Centers

Dunbar, East Little Rock, Southwest, and Stephens senior programs are open Monday through Friday, 8:30a.m. - 1:30p.m.  Membership fee is $1.50 per month or an annual fee is $15.00 (annual fee has to be paid by January 31).  Daily and weekly activities include ceramics, creative crafts, exercise, religious discussions, field trips (in and out of town), checkers, cards, dominoes, and other table games.  A birthday club, travel club, and volunteer program (RSVP) are available for persons to join or participate.  A noon meal at some facilities provided daily by the Area Agency on Aging, Care Link.  Each center distributes a monthly calendar to members updating them on upcoming activities.  Call or come by the centers for additional information.

 

Citywide Senior Activities

A wide variety of special events are held throughout the year for senior adults within the Little Rock area.  Events include Senior Fitness Day, Bocce/Horseshoe Tournaments, Volunteer Appreciation Day, Senior Fun & Games, Tacky Day, and other interesting activities where seniors are invited to participate.  For these and other special events, please call 371-6854.

 

Fees

Activities are conducted Monday through Friday for adults 55 years and older.  A monthly membership fee of $1.50 or an annual fee of $15.00 will allow participation in the activities.

 

Ceramics

Learn to put your ideas to work and create your piece.  Start with cleaning, painting and detailing your piece to finish.  Classes are continuous.

Daily:  9:00a.m. - 12:00 noon

Cost:  Participant purchases tools and greenware

 

Arts & Crafts

A new project is introduced each month for participants who may not take part in other activities.  Make something nice and creative for yourself or the center.

Seniorcise

Volunteers provide a variety of ways for you to get a weekly workout.  You also get to use the equipment at the Community Centers where programs are located to complete your workout.
