#1093 BURGLARY Burglary is a crime that has cost millions of dollars and has been part of history since the beginning of modern civilization. People work hard to have nice things in their lives. Burglars take away what we have all worked hard for, and in some cases what we hold sacred. On June 30, 2001, Kimmie Mensie left her business, Nails by Kimmie, at 5316 W. Markham Street around 10:30 p.m. Shortly after she left; she was notified that her burglar alarm was activated. When she returned to the business, she discovered that someone had broken into her business and stole one item. A plastic water jug full of quarters. The theft of the quarters does not seem, at first, to be a very serious crime. The bottle contained almost $5000 and was being saved to donate to research for Sickle Cell Anemia. Kimmie's sister, Tracey Davis, died of Sickle Cell Anemia on November 16, 2000. Kimmie has been saving this money for sometime to help in finding a cure for the disease. Many people have placed quarters in the jar to help with Kimmie's cause. Hopefully someone saw the burglar and can help in recovering the lost quarters. If you have information about this burglary, please call the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 371-INFO. Your information may be worth up to $1000.
