Smash and grab burglaries have been a problem in central Arkansas for several months. Edd Taylor was identified as our cigarette bandit. He is responsible for a multitude of these burglaries. Other suspects have been identified and arrested. However, smash and grab burglaries continue. On May 24, 2001, a new suspect came on the scene. At 1:16 a.m. on this date a black male broke out the door glass of the Total Store at 6117 W. Markham Street. The burglar enters the store and begins looking for items to take. He is only in the store for a few seconds and then he is gone. The video surveillance camera catches the criminal at work. At 0455 a paperboys notices the window broken out and contacts the police department. The suspect appears to be a black male, 5'10", 200 lbs, wearing a light colored striped shirt, dark pants, and a ball cap. Any one having information about this crime should contact the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 371-INFO. The information may be worth up to $1000.
