Altered Checks

Money is not the lonely thing that is being counterfeited these days.  Checks are now the subject of counterfeiters. Many are being made or altered using a simple home computer. In this week’s crime stoppers a check was stolen from a local business and altered by adding a name to the payee line. The check was then deposited into an account, using a stolen account number, and then the cash quickly withdrawn. Smaller businesses feel a larger impact from these counterfeited and altered checks. The identity of two unknown females involved in the cashing of one of these altered checks is needed.Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Crimestoppers at 371-INFO. Your information may be worth up to $1000.00.
