JOB OBJECTIVE:  To supervise the operations of restaurant and concession facilities at the Little Rock Zoo.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

1.         Monitors the operation and maintenance of Zoo restaurant and concession facilities.

 

2.         Opens and closes restaurant and concession facilities.

 

3.         Makes recommendations as to the number of personnel needed; maintains records of time worked for each employee.

 

4.         Maintains food and material inventory; places orders; verifies orders upon delivery; ensures invoices submitted for payment are accurate.

 

5.         Performs cashiering functions by ringing sales and receiving monies; reconciles the day's receipts by totaling all monies received, rechecking the printout, tickets, and the drawer totals until all totals balance.

 

6.         Writes work orders for facilities maintenance; schedules maintenance projects with appropriate personnel; notifies supervisor of special maintenance projects.

 

7.         Determines and distributes employee work schedules.

 

8.         Prepares food orders and performs cleaning functions as required.

 

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1.         Receives, investigates, and resolves complaints from the public regarding food quality and service.

 

2.         Assists with the coordination of special functions by ordering specialized food and supplies.

 

3.         Assigns, trains and directs the work activities and monitors the performance of assigned part-time, temporary, and volunteer personnel.

 

4.         Performs other related duties as required.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  None.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

 

Knowledge of food preparation methods and techniques.

 

Knowledge of staffing methods and techniques.

 

Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices.

 

Knowledge of mathematics.

 

Skill in the operation of a cash register.

 

Ability to determine employee staffing requirements and work schedules.

 

Ability to monitor the sales of products.

 

Ability to maintain food and material inventory.

 

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

 

These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through the completion of high school, two (2) years of experience in restaurant or concession sales, or a related area, and one (1) year of lead worker experience.  Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
