JOB DESCRIPTION

 

 

JOB TITLE:  Work Dispatcher (General Services)

 

MAINTENANCE REVIEW DATE:  May 1996

 

ORG/POS #:  1410/1999

 

JOB OBJECTIVE:  To receive and relay building repair requests to appropriate Building Services personnel; to maintain pool vehicles and inventory information; and to provide clerical support for Building Services.

 

ACCOUNTABILITY:  Receives general supervision from the Building Services Supervisor.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

1.         Receives calls for work requests; writes work orders and enters work requests and work order information into a computer; forwards work orders to the Building Services Supervisor for assignment; distributes copies of completed work requests to the initiating department.

 

2.         Receives emergency work order requests; forwards information to Building Services Supervisor via two-way radio or telephone; relays work assignments.

 

3.         Checks pool vehicles in and out; inputs information into a database; maintains an inventory list of vehicles in service.

 

4.         Monitors preventative maintenance schedule for pool vehicles and City buildings and notifies supervisor accordingly.

 

5.         Issues and maintains time cards per department regulations; enters vacation and sick leave time in Building Services database; maintains project schedules and work time tables.

 

6.         Composes and types routine correspondence and reports; operates a microcomputer with word processing software.

 

7.         Maintains computerized and hard copy files and logs of permits and work order information, safety meetings, and training/education classes for Building Services employees.

 

8.         Issues "shared tools" and maintains an up-to-date Tool Inventory Sheet; notifies supervisor of tools not returned.

 

9.         Directs assigned work release inmates in cleaning shop area.

 

10.       Obtains quotes for materials list; documents and maintains related files; maintains files of materials and supplies received.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

 

Completion of high school; at least two (2) years of general clerical experience; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
