JOB TITLE: Video Production Technician

JOB OBJECTIVE: To provide technical assistance in the
operations of the Government Access Television facility and in the development
and production of video presentations.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Receives general supervision from the
Public Information Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Develops and produces video productions
or programs for the Government Access Channel and for City departments to
include the planning, shooting, scripting, and editing of such programs.
2. Provides technical information and
production assistance to City departments regarding use of video equipment.
3. Assists City departments in the
development of video based training programs or special presentations.
4. Operates video equipment to produce
public service announcements.
SECONDARY
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintains files of videotape for stock
footage.
2. Manages some maintenance and scheduling
of audiovisual communication equipment and coordination of its use.
3. Trains, directs, and supervises
volunteers, interns, co-op students, and City employees in the operation of
video equipment.
4. Recommends bid specifications for
purchase of new equipment.
5. Performs other related duties as
required.

VIDEO
PRODUCTION TECHNICIAN
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Performs technical work of average
difficulty in providing technical assistance in the operations of the
Government Access Television facility and in developing and producing video
presentations.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Good knowledge of video production
techniques.
Good knowledge of video equipment.
Skill in the operation of a video camera.
Skill in the operation of video editing
devices.
Ability to plan, write, and produce video
presentations.
Ability to install and maintain video equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally
and in writing.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Completion of two (2) years of
vocational-technical school or college coursework in Television and Film
Production, Broadcast Journalism, or a related area; at least one (1) year
of experience in video production and equipment; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides
the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
