JOB OBJECTIVE:  To ensure the maintenance, retention, and serving of court subpoenas for Little Rock District Court, Criminal Division.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

1.         Serves subpoenas on individuals by telephone, certified mail or in person.

 

2.         Establishes and maintains hard copy and computerized filing and record-keeping systems of subpoena-related information.

 

3.         Operates a computer terminal to input subpoena information, such as addresses and telephone numbers; maintains a log of telephone subpoenas, including the individual’s name, address, telephone number, the date and time of contact and relevant subpoena information.

 

4.         Prepares and mails form letters assigning subpoenas to witnesses for rescheduled court dates.

 

5.         Answers questions and provides information to citizens regarding warrants, subpoenas and other related procedures.

 

6.         Maintains files and records related to persons in rehabilitation facilities who have been subpoenaed to court.

 

7.         Answers questions and responds to inquiries relating to subpoenas; directs callers/visitors to appropriate personnel.

 

8.         Operates the ACIC/NCIC computer terminal to perform criminal history checks; enters information regarding served subpoenas into the computer terminal.

 

9.         Serves as backup to the Court Clerks.

 

10.       Testifies in court as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

 

Knowledge of filing and record keeping systems.

 

Knowledge of city ordinances and state statutes.

 

Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures.

 

Knowledge of data entry principles and practices.

 

Knowledge of the procedures governing civilian subpoenas.

 

Skill in the operation of a computer terminal.

 

Ability to interpret NCIC and ACIC codes.

 

Ability to maintain files and records.

 

Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively with members of the public and other employees.

 

Ability to maintain hard copy and computerized files and records.

 

Ability to practice proper telephone etiquette.

 

Ability to modify warrant information in the computer terminal.

 

Ability to serve civilian subpoenas by telephone.

 

Ability to serve civilian subpoenas in person.

 

Ability to testify in court.

 

Ability to answer questions and provide information to citizens regarding warrants, subpoenas, and related procedures.

 

These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through completion of high school; one (1) year of experience in record keeping; one (1) year experience in data entry.  Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

 


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

 

Must possess or be able to obtain Arkansas Crime Information Center (ACIC)/National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification within six months of employment.

 

Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver’s License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position.
