JOB TITLE: Service Coordinator I
MAINTENANCE

JOB
OBJECTIVE: To supervise and coordinate the corrective
and preventive maintenance activities of mechanic team members.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Receives general supervision from the Fleet Operations
Manager.
ESSENTIAL
JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Prioritizes
work orders based on estimated time required for corrective and preventive
maintenance, determined by time received and nature and extent of requested repairs.
2. Approves
established automotive teamwork schedules and daily work assignments to ensure
the completion of work within established time frame; extends time for
completion as necessary.
3. Prepares
estimates of repair costs, labor, parts and material requirements.
4. Coordinates
work assignments between automotive team members and other teams by reviewing
work schedule and adjusting schedule as necessary.
5. Provides
technical information and assistance to Automotive Team Leader.
6. Prepares
various repair records and reports; recommends changes in maintenance program
and procedures to improve productivity.
7. Approves
requests from automotive team members for tools, equipment, supplies and
materials from central supply storeroom.
8. Evaluates
the performance of automotive team members to ensure work standards are met and
adequate training is provided by monitoring work in progress and completed work
orders.
9. Provides
assistance in the preparation of budget and bid request data.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Monitors
inventory of tools, supplies and shop equipment; notifies the supervisor of
losses.
2. Performs
road tests and quality control checks on new and repaired vehicles to ensure
satisfactory operation.
3. Monitors
the record keeping system to ensure the accuracy of maintenance operation
information.

4. Serves
as an after-hours coordinator for emergency situations.
5. Performs
other related duties as required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides general
supervision to Automotive Team Leader, Automotive Technicians I and II, and
Automotive Technician Assistant.

REQUIRED
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Considerable
knowledge
of the standard practices, methods, tools, and equipment of the
automotive/diesel mechanic’s trade.
Considerable
knowledge
of the occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions of the vehicle
mechanical trade.
Skill in the use and care of the
tools and equipment used in the automotive mechanic trade.
Skill in the operation of
automatic and standard (manual) transmission automobiles.
Ability to supervise and coordinate
the work of automotive teams.

large-scale vehicle preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
Ability to maintain records and

Ability to establish and maintain

ACCEPTABLE
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Completion of
high school; at least two (2) years experience in the maintenance of
automotive and heavy construction equipment; at least one (1) year of
supervisory experience; OR any
equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required
knowledge, skills and abilities.
ADDITIONAL
REQUIREMENT:
Must possess
a valid Arkansas Class B (Commercial Vehicle) Driver’s License within ninety
(90) days of employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment
in this position.
