JOB TITLE: Security Guard (Impoundment Lot)

OBJECTIVE: To provide security at impoundment lot
facility.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Receives general supervision from the Impound Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL
JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Patrols
grounds and inspects the interior and exterior of facilities, to ensure
compliance with rules and regulations and the security of grounds, buildings
and equipment.
2. Secures
impound access, i.e. gates, fences, etc., to restrict unauthorized entry.
3. Operates
a radio to notify Central Communications of unauthorized persons and persons
violating laws, ordinances and departmental rules.
4. Provides
Police with accurate details for use in the apprehension of persons violating
the law.
5. Locks
and unlocks gates, doors and windows as needed for facility.
6. Operates
a remote control surveillance system to monitor irregularities.
7. Monitors
unauthorized persons and persons violating laws until a Police Officer arrives.
8. Reports
broken equipment or property damage to supervisor or other designated
personnel.
9. Informs
other guards of problems, suspicious activities or unusual situations in or
around the facility; prepares a daily shift activity report for supervisor.
10. Performs
other related duties as required.

Operates a

REQUIRED
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Good
knowledge
of laws and ordinances governing public facilities.
Good
knowledge
of laws governing the illegal use of controlled substances.
Skill in the operation of remote
control surveillance systems.
Ability to communicate verbally in
a clear and concise manner with facility participants, other employees and
persons violating rules.
Ability to make decisions in
emergency and other stressful situations.
Ability to notice property damage.
Ability to follow verbal
instructions.

ACCEPTABLE
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Completion of
grade school; at least one year of experience in security or a related
area; OR any equivalent combination of
experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and
abilities.

WORK
ENVIRONMENT:
The noise
level in the work environment is usually quiet. The employee is occasionally
required to work outside to patrol the facilities.
