JOB OBJECTIVE: To develop, organize and supervise leisure
and recreational programs for adults and seniors for the City of Little Rock
Department of Parks and Recreation.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Receives general supervision from the
Parks Recreation Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Develops, organizes, and supervises
leisure and recreational programs for adults and seniors for the City of Little
Rock Department of Parks and Recreation; promotes awareness of adult and senior
programs to recruits participants.
2. Researches program and facility
cost/benefit data, revenues generated, number of participants and other
information; compiles information into reports; analyzes data and recommends
additions, deletions and changes to new and existing programs or facilities;
implements approved changes.
3. Writes and implements policies and
procedures for programs and facilities.
4. Selects contractual personnel to provide instruction for specific activities; provides training.
5. Assigns and directs activities and monitors performance of assigned full-time, regular part-time, temporary (including seasonal), contractual, and volunteer personnel.
6. Prepares tentative annual budget
figures for adult/senior programs for supervisory approval; monitors program
expenditures and ensures budgets are not exceeded.
7. Develops, coordinates, and promotes special activities for the Adult Leisure Center.
8. Interprets rules for activities;
mediates disagreements; provides disciplinary action to program participants.
9. Answers questions from the public
regarding adult/senior programs.
10. Establishes and monitors program and activity schedules for adult/senior programs, including activities scheduled by outside organizations.
11. Represents the City in working with
civic, community, and business leaders to develop and implement leisure and
recreational programs for adults and seniors.

12. Operates a microcomputer with spreadsheet
and word processing software.

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Monitors equipment and supplies
inventory; purchases supplies; recommends the purchase of major equipment and
supplies; prepares bid specifications and requisitions upon approval; ensures
purchase.
2. Maintains records of fees collected;
reviews daily revenue reports and ensures the preparation of daily bank
deposits.
3. Maintains hard copy and computer files and records.
4. Performs other related duties as
required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides
general supervision to the Adult Center Supervisor.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Recreation
Administration, Parks Administration, Leisure Sciences, or a related area; at
least two (2) years of experience in adult/senior program development or
administration, or a related area; at least one (1) year of supervisory
experience; OR any equivalent
combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge,
skills, and abilities.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial
Vehicle) Driver’s License before employment and maintain licensure for the
duration of employment in this position.
