JOB TITLE: RCDC Community Training Coordinator

JOB OBJECTIVE: To further the efforts of the Racial and Cultural Diversity Commission by developing and presenting training classes, programs, and conferences on racial and cultural diversity issues to the public and by providing other assistance to the Commission.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Receives general supervision from the Executive Director – Racial and Cultural Diversity Commission.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Provides facilitation for and develops and presents training classes, programs, and conferences on racial and cultural diversity issues (racial diversity, prejudice reduction, conflict resolution, dismantling of racism, etc.) to civic groups, businesses, neighborhood associations and other organizations, and City employees.
2. Prepares training materials, including lesson plans with identified learning objectives, training modules, and any other materials needed for presentations to classes and other groups.
3. Selects and develops teaching aids such as training handbooks, articles, books, videos, and other materials; develops and ensures availability of needed handout material for presentations.
4. Identifies and recruits people and organizations as candidates for Commission training.
5. Maintains a library of educational materials, such as articles, books, and videos; recommends the purchase of books, videos, and other materials for the Division’s Resource Center.
6. Identifies community and national resources that could provide assistance with Commission activities.
7. Establishes and maintains hard copy and computer files and records of all training activities, including type of presentation, materials presented, and details of each group trained.
8. Operates a microcomputer with graphics, spreadsheet, and word processing software.
9. Operates a City pool automobile in the performance of essential job functions.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Prepares regular and special narrative and statistical reports listing the number and type of presentations and information regarding the persons trained.

2. Attends meetings of neighborhood associations and other organizations to provide assistance to supervisor.
3. Provides assistance with the coordination of training programs and conferences, meetings, and an annual multicultural event.
4. Maintains a calendar of scheduled presentations to ensure that all requested programs are prepared and presented in a timely manner and without scheduling conflicts; provides information to supervisor for planning, scheduling, and presenting training classes.
5. Assists supervisor with the development of public information materials promoting Commission activities and other public information activities.
6. Assists with soliciting, recruiting, assigning, and directing the work activities of volunteers for an annual multicultural event.
7. Performs other related duties as required.

Good knowledge of computer fundamentals and business software, including graphics, spreadsheet and word processing software.

Skill in the operation of an automatic transmission automobile.
Ability to develop training materials.

Ability to prepare narrative and statistical reports.
Ability to maintain hard copy and computer filing and record-keeping systems.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally, with individuals and groups, and in writing.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business Administration, Public Administration, Speech Communications, Sociology, or a related field; at least two (2) years of experience in developing and presenting training programs, making public presentations, or a related area; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver’s License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position.
