JOB TITLE: Pro Assistant (Tennis Center)
MAINTENANCE REVIEW DATE: June 1999

JOB OBJECTIVE: To assist the Pro Manager in the operation
of the City's Tennis Centers.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Receives general supervision from the
Pro Manager (Tennis Center).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Recruits new players involving all age
levels for participation in leagues and tournaments.
2. Provides assistance in developing and
administering junior league programs.
3. Supervises men’s and women’s leagues.
4. Reserves and assigns tennis courts for
use by individuals and groups; maintains calendars and reservation forms;
collects fees.
5. Assists staff in the completion of
weekly time sheets.
6. Provides information and answers questions
for persons playing in tournaments and leagues; collects registration fees;
completes tournament and league draw sheets and directs tournaments and
leagues.
7. Repairs tennis equipment by stringing,
re-stringing, and replacing racket grips.
8. Sells tennis supplies, alcoholic and
non-alcoholic beverages, and clothing; operates a cash register to record sales
and fees; records daily sales in an inventory log.
9. Serves as backup in the absence of the
Pro Manager (Tennis Center).
10. Serves as referee for Tennis Center
tournaments.
11. Assigns and directs the work activites of
part-time employees.
12. Reconciles daily receipts by totaling all
checks and cash received; rechecks tickets and drawer totals until all totals
balance; prepares and makes bank deposits.
13. Compiles numerical data and prepares
daily revenue reports, listing the amount of sales and fees collected.
14. Opens and closes facilities as required.

15. Operates a City pool automobile in the
performance of essential job functions.
SECONDARY
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintains list of persons participating
in the men’s, women’s, and junior league programs.
2. Matches players of comparable levels
for local and out-of-town play; schedules private and group tennis lessons.
3. Completes monthly attendance reports
and other reports.
4. Notifies the supervisor of supplies,
equipment, and maintenance needed at the Tennis Center.
5. Answers questions and provides
information to persons calling or visiting the Tennis Center; receives
complaint calls and handles as appropriate.
6. Prepares facilities for special events,
tournaments and leagues; orders and places signage; purchases required
supplies; secures additional facilities; recruits and assigns work activities
of volunteers.
7. Performs other related duties as
required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Considerable knowledge of the rules
and principles of the game of tennis.

Ability to schedule the use of tennis courts.
Ability to communicate effectively.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Completion of high school; at least two
(2) years of experience in the game of tennis; at least one (1) year of
experience as a cashier; at least one (1) year of leadership experience;
OR any equivalent combination of
experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and
abilities.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be 21 years of age to meet State of Arkansas
requirement for selling alcoholic beverages.
Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial
Vehicle) Driver’s License before employment and maintain licensure for the
duration of employment in this position.
