JOB TITLE: Printing Technician II
MAINTENANCE

OBJECTIVE: To operate various equipment to prepare
printed materials for City departments.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Receives general supervision from the Printing Services
Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL
JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Operates
printing presses, copiers, and other duplicating equipment to print materials.
2. Operates
equipment to trim, collate, fold, punch, bind, laminate, perforate, or staple
printed materials; collates, folds, and staples by hand as required.
3. Burns
and develops metal plates for offset printing.
4. Assembles
materials on light table for negatives used to prepare metal plates.
5. Completes
print request form upon project completion.
6. Meters
outgoing mail for City departments; records postage amount to be charged to
each department.
7. Provides
minor adjustment or repairs to equipment.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Prepares
paper masters for small printing projects.
2. Maintains
files of negatives for reuse in printing standard forms used by City
departments.
3. Provides
instructions to temporary, and part-time workers.
4. Serves
as backup to the Printing Services Supervisor in absences by receiving
requisitions for printing and notifying departments of completed projects.
5. Performs
other related duties as required.

Skill in the operation of
printing and duplicating equipment.
Skill in the operation of
folding, collating, binding, and stapling equipment.
Skill in the operation of a
postage meter.
Ability to follow oral and written
instructions.
Ability to maintain simple records.
ACCEPTABLE
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Completion of
grade school; at least one (1) year of experience in operating printing
equipment; completion of one year of experience at the Printing
Technician I level; OR any equivalent
combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge,
skills, and abilities.
