OBJECTIVE: To supervise sworn and civilian personnel
assigned to the Warrants section, the Property Room and the front desk.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Receives general supervision from the Police Lieutenant
(Records and Support).
ESSENTIAL
JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Supervises
the daily work activities of assigned Police Officers and civilian personnel
and provides assistance and guidance as required.
2. Supervises
the mailing of notices to individuals who have outstanding traffic and
misdemeanor warrants, informing them of the warrant and requesting them to
report to the Police Department.
3. Ensures
that Warrant Officers search for individuals with outstanding felony warrants;
approves any forced entry into houses.
4. Serves
warrants on individuals who report to the Police Department and completes
related arrest reports; modifies warrant information in the computer by
entering the date the warrant was served and the name of the Officer serving
the warrant.
5. Maintains
files and records related to warrants.
6. Supervises
Officers assigned to the front desk to ensure the Chief's docket is updated
accurately and timely, callers and visitors are directed to appropriate
personnel, and building security is maintained.
7. Ensures
that Officers assigned to the Property Room store and retrieve property and
conduct auctions according to policies and procedures.
8. Supervises
the activities of the Officer assigned to serve subpoenas on Police Officers to
ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
9. Reviews
and approves reports, correspondence, and other documents prepared by assigned
Police Officers to ensure they are accurate and complete.
10. Approves
and monitors the arrest of suspects and the completion of related forms,
ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
11. Testifies
in court as required.

12. Informs
assigned Officers of changes in departmental or divisional policies and
procedures or changes in laws and regulations; ensures that Officers comply
with changes.
13. Prepares
monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual narrative and statistical reports;
conducts research and prepares special reports as required.
14. Inspects
the equipment assigned to the squad to ensure it remains functional and in good
repair.
15. Evaluates
the performance of assigned Officers and civilian personnel; recommends
disciplinary action when required.
16. Approves
and schedules leave time for assigned personnel, ensuring adequate coverage of
duties and responsibilities.
17. Investigates
and responds to service complaints lodged against assigned Officers.
18. Maintains
a record of all cash stored in the department safe, and ensures it is secure;
submits unclaimed monies to the City Collector's Office.
19. Performs
other related duties as required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides general
supervision to Police Officers assigned to Warrants, the Property Room, the
Desk, and Subpoena Service; provides general supervision to the Warrants
Clerks and assigned Police Cadets.
