JOB TITLE: Parks Welding Worker

JOB
OBJECTIVE: To perform gas and electric welding to
construct, repair, and maintain Parks and Recreation facilities and equipment.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Receives general supervision from the Parks Maintenance
and Development Foreman.
ESSENTIAL
JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Operates
acetylene (gas) and arc (electric) welding and cutting equipment to fabricate
and/or install new components and remove, replace or repair worn and damaged
components of Parks and Recreation facilities and equipment.
2. Estimates
the amount of time and material required for each project; selects equipment
and plans layout, assembly, and welding techniques.
3. Working
from drawings, sketches, and work order specifications, operates saws, presses,
drills, and grinders to cut and shape stock needed for projects.
4. Lays
out, fits, and welds components to assemble structural forms, such as
playground and athletic field equipment, gates, fences, and railings.
5. Performs
carpentry and masonry in the construction, installation, alteration or repair
of new or existing Parks and Recreation facilities.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Builds
and installs retaining walls for projects, when necessary, utilizing hand and
power tools.
2. Drives
a light duty pickup truck to transport supplies, equipment, and materials to
job sites.
3. Provides
work direction to Parks Maintenance Workers and part-time employees, as
assigned.
4. Paints
and/or performs other building or equipment maintenance as needed.
5. Performs other related duties as
required.

Ability to follow oral and written
instructions.
Ability to read and interpret
blueprints and drawings.

ACCEPTABLE
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Completion of
grade school; at least one year of experience in construction work of a
semi-skilled nature; at least one year of skilled welding experience; OR any equivalent combination of experience
and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
ADDITIONAL
REQUIREMENT:
Must possess
a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver’s License before
employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this
position.
