JOB TITLE: Parks Construction Worker I

JOB
OBJECTIVE: To perform construction, repairs,
maintenance and equipment operation at City Parks and Recreation facilities.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Receives immediate supervision from the Parks Maintenance
and Development Foreman.
ESSENTIAL
JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Constructs
cement walls, sidewalks, and curbs for new and existing Parks and Recreation
facilities, utilizing blueprint guides and specifications; makes cement and
concrete repairs for existing facilities.
2. Performs
carpentry and masonry in the construction, installation, alteration and repair
of new and existing Parks and Recreation facilities.
3. Performs
welding tasks in installing and repairing Parks and Recreation facilities.
4. Builds
and installs retaining walls for projects utilizing hand and power tools.
5. Drives
a light duty pickup truck and a one ton pickup to transport supplies, equipment
and materials to job sites and unloads supplies, equipment, and materials.
6. Checks
fluid levels in vehicles and equipment before operation; transports vehicles
and equipment to the Vehicle Maintenance Shop for repairs.
7. Provides
direct working supervision to Parks Maintenance Workers and part-time
employees.
8. Paints
and performs other building and equipment maintenance.
9. Installs,
replaces, and repairs roofing for Parks and Recreation facilities.

STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Performs work of moderate
difficulty in performing repairs, maintenance, and equipment operation
activities at City of Little Rock Parks and Recreation facilities and sites.

REQUIRED
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Skill in the operation of an

a crew of unskilled and semi-skilled workers.
Ability to follow oral and written
instructions.

ACCEPTABLE
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
At least
one (1) year of experience in construction work of a semi-skilled nature; at least one (1)
year of supervisory or lead worker experience; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides
the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess
a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver’s License before
employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this
position.
