JOB TITLE: Office Assistant I (Zoo)

JOB OBJECTIVE: To serve as receptionist and to provide clerical support to the City of Little Rock Zoo.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Receives general supervision from the Director of the Zoo.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Answers the telephone and routes callers to appropriate personnel; refers visitors and delivery persons to appropriate personnel.
2. Answers questions and provides information regarding zoo hours, admission prices, special events, and Zoo location to persons calling and visiting the Zoo.
3. Makes reservations for groups planning to visit the Zoo; completes worksheet with pertinent information (dates, number attending, etc.); enters information into microcomputer utilizing database software; prints reports and distributes to appropriate personnel.
4. Operates a microcomputer with database software to enter information and maintain computerized files and records relating to maintenance expenses and projects.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Prepares outgoing mail; receives and sorts incoming mail; distributes to appropriate personnel.
2. Sorts, files, and retrieves hard copies of documents according to alphabetic filing system.
3. Makes photocopies of correspondence and other printed material, using photocopying machine; receives and sends facsimile copies, using facsimile machine.
4. Performs other related duties as required.
