JOB TITLE: Landfill Maintenance Repair Specialist
MAINTENANCE

JOB
OBJECTIVE: To repair and perform preventative
maintenance on equipment, and facilities at the Solid Waste Landfill.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Receives general supervision from the Solid Waste
Engineer.
ESSENTIAL
JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Operates
welding and cutting equipment to fabricate and install new components and
remove, replace and repair worn and damaged components of Landfill facilities
and equipment.
2. Maintains
and repairs Landfill irrigation and sprinkler systems and other plumbing
components on Landfill facilities.
3. Performs
mechanical work including disassembling electrical and pump systems, and other
major repair work with the assistance of outside contractors.
4. Reconditions
and replaces defective parts such as bearings, gears, valves, and bushings,
using sleeve puller, hand tools, and precision measuring instruments.
5. Troubleshoots
to identify replacement and repair of parts and materials; maintains an
inventory of tools, supplies, and materials listing purchases, materials used
and materials in stock requisitions tools, equipment, and other needed
supplies.
6. Troubleshoots
and diagnoses malfunctions in electrical equipment at Landfill facilities;
works with outside electrical contractors.
7. Conducts
periodic routine preventive maintenance inspections for all Landfill
facilities.
8. Inspects
the work of outside contractors performing work on Landfill facilities to
ensure work performed is in compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, and
specifications.
9. Inspects
equipment to identify needed repairs; performs necessary tests and final
inspections of all completed work to ensure all phases of preventive and
corrective maintenance have been completed to established standards.
10. Troubleshoots
on rebuilt assemblies, components, electrical and hydraulic systems for
operational efficiency.
11. Completes
work orders and written reports of weekly work activities for use by the Solid
Waste Engineer.

losses and ensure adequate supplies for completing work assignments.
13. Notifies
Solid Waste Engineer of major problems and damage to equipment and facilities.
14. Operates
and maintains various facilities at the Landfill, including the fuel station
and wash site.
15. Provides
routine maintenance and repairs to the fuel station, wash site, and other
Landfill facilities.
16. Prepares specifications
and cost estimates for the solicitation of bids on assigned repair and
maintenance projects; reviews received bids on projects and makes recommendation
on bid award to supervisor.

of the hazards and safety precautions of heavy-duty mechanical maintenance and
repair work.

knowledge
of welding methods and techniques.

with the basic methods and procedures of simple electrical component installation
and replacement.

of the installation and maintenance of sprinkler and irrigation systems.
Skill in the operation of welding
equipment.

maintenance, power, hand, metal working tools and equipment.

ACCEPTABLE
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Completion of
high school; at least two (2) years of experience in heavy equipment
maintenance and repair; at least one (1) year of heavy equipment welding
experience; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides
the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
ADDITIONAL
REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess
a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver’s License before
employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this
position.
Must possess
certification as a forklift operator within six (6) months of employment and
maintain certification for the duration of employment in this position.
Must complete
all educational requirements of Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality
(ADEQ) for the 1A and 1B licenses within one (1) year of employment.
