JOB TITLE: Judicial Assistant
MAINTENANCE

OBJECTIVE: To provide staff legal support and general
supervision for the Civil/Small Claims Court staff of the Little Rock Municipal
Court.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Receives general supervision from the Municipal Judge for
researching cases and developing legal memoranda for the court; receives general
supervision from the Court Administrator for directing the Small
Claims/Civil Division.
ESSENTIAL
JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Researches
applicable laws and court decisions for use in developing decisions.
2. Prepares
legal memoranda for use in cases before the court.
3. Corrects
errors in court documents and notifies effected agencies of the changes.
4. Prepares
a monthly statistical report of court activities for review by the Judge.
5. Maintains
current files of court records and appeals for Circuit Court.
6. Serves
as backup to Court clerical staff as needed.
7. Performs
other related duties as required.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides
guidance to clerks regarding filing of pleadings, issuing summonses and
subpoenas; monitors records and documents for accuracy.
2. Supervises
the scheduling of cases for trials, judgments, and hearings according to the
availability of parties, witnesses, and attorneys; notifies parties promptly
when cases are rescheduled.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides general
supervision to the Court Clerks inthe Civil/Small Claims Section.

ACCEPTABLE
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Graduation
from an accredited law school; some related work experience; or any equivalent
combination of experience and training which provides the required skills,
knowledge, and abilities.
ADDITIONAL
REQUIREMENT:
Must possess
or be able to obtain a license to practice law in the state of Arkansas within
one year.
