JOB OBJECTIVE:  Provides assistance to Impound Attendants in impoundment, release and auction of vehicles and other property at the impound facility and in the collection of money and balancing of receipts.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

1.            Provides assistance to the Impound Services Shift Supervisors in assigning work to Impound Attendants I and II.

 

2          Directs the work activities of assigned Impound Attendants I and II in the absence of the Impound Services Shift Supervisor.

 

3.         Ensures the development and maintenance of computerized and hard copy files and records.

 

4.            Retrieves storage and towing fee information from computer terminal for citizens reclaiming their property; collects cash, makes change and issues receipts.

 

5.            Receives customer complaints and forwards to Impound Services Shift Supervisor.

 

6.            Performs inspections of divisional automotive equipment; contacts the Department of Fleet Services regarding equipment requiring repairs.

 

7.            Performs inspections of the impound lot to ensure that all vehicles are properly secured and numbered.

 

8.         Ensures that Impound Attendants I and II follow proper procedures regarding the entry of information into the database and logbooks; ensures that the documentation of information by the Impound Attendants I and II is complete and accurate.

 

9.            Provides training to Impound Attendants I and II in procedures and in equipment operation.

 

10.            Develops and implements, upon approval, an inventory control system for tools and equipment to prevent losses and ensure adequate supplies for completing daily work assignments; notifies Office Assistant III of required supplies.

 

11.            Operates a microcomputer utilizing spreadsheet and word processing software.

 

12.            Operates City vehicles in the performance of essential job functions.

 

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1.         Ensures the preparation of letters of notification to registered owners and lien holders detailing information concerning impounded property; ensures accuracy of information contained in letters.

 

2.         Prints reports containing impounded and released vehicle information for the Little Rock Police Department and Arkansas State Police.

 

3.            Provides assistance to the Impound Services Auction Technician; ensures adequate staffing; assists with auction process.

 

4.         Serves as backup to Impound Attendants I and II.

 

5.            Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

 

Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures.

 

Knowledge of hard copy and computer filing and record-keeping systems.

 

Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and principles.

 

Knowledge of computerized records maintenance.

 

Skill in the operation of standard (manual) and automatic transmission automobiles.

 

Skill in the operation of a computer terminal.

 

Skill in the operation of a microcomputer, utilizing word processing and spreadsheet software.

 

Ability to count money and make change.

 

Ability to complete forms.

 

Ability to prepare detailed narrative and statistical reports.

 

Ability to accurately transfer numbers and letters.

 

Ability to maintain hard copy and computer files and records.

 

Ability to attend to routine tasks and check paperwork for accuracy and errors.

 

Ability to perform mathematical calculations.

 

Ability to review impound tickets to ensure appropriate rates are being charged.

 

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

 

Ability to direct the work activities of assigned employees.

 

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

 

These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through completion of high school, supplemented by one (1) year of vocational technical school coursework in Office Administration, or a related area, one (1) year of administrative experience, or a related area, one (1) year of lead worker experience.  Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:  Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver’s License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position.
