JOB TITLE:  General Foreman (Parks Maintenance)

JOB OBJECTIVE:  To schedule and supervise assigned Parks Maintenance crews in the repair and maintenance of Parks facilities.

 

ACCOUNTABILITY:  Receives general supervision from the Parks Maintenance Manager.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

1.         Plans and schedules repair and maintenance activities for assigned Parks Maintenance crews.

 

2.         Maintains checkout and inventory numbering systems for Parks Maintenance hand tools and small engine equipment; ensures appropriate repair and maintenance of tools and equipment in inventory.

 

3.         Requisitions maintenance tools and supplies; makes necessary purchases and recommends equipment replacement purchases when necessary.

 

4.         Inspects and accepts delivery of ordered parks supplies and equipment, including chemicals and playground equipment.

 

5.         Trains Parks Maintenance employees in the proper use of equipment, herbicides and insecticides; implements new procedures on chemical usage as necessary.

 

6.         Contacts contractors for the removal of trees, fencing and roofing; monitors completion of work and approves payment.

 

7.         Monitors the Parks Maintenance work order and inventory records management systems, including ensuring accuracy of records kept of man-hours, equipment hours and chemical usage in parks; generates routine reports from records.

 

8.         Provides tentative budget data for the preparation of the annual budget for the Parks Maintenance Division.

 

9.         Receives and investigates citizen complaints; takes corrective action as necessary.

10.       Receives and responds to emergency maintenance requests regarding Parks facilities reserved by the public; assigns appropriate work crews.

 

11.       Provides discipline to Parks Maintenance employees as needed and represents the Parks Department in disciplinary hearings, as required.

 

12.       Performs other related duties as required.

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Provides general supervision to assigned Parks Maintenance and Development Foremen.
