JOB TITLE: Fuel System Technician
MAINTENANCE

JOB
OBJECTIVE:
To monitor, coordinate and maintain Fleet Services fuel system functional
activities and to ensure that all fuel sites comply with regulatory
requirements.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Receives general
supervision from the Fleet Acquisition and Utilization Manager.
ESSENTIAL
JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Places
orders for bulk fuel deliveries; coordinates drop delivery schedules; conducts
tank measurements and performs data entry as related to fuel, oil, hydraulic
fluid and other vehicle related fluids stored at all fueling locations.
2. Maintains
inventory levels on the fuel tanker truck; operates truck to deliver fuel to
other sites.
3. Monitors
inventory levels at fuel sites and maintains computerized records of results.
4. Performs
weekly site inspections and compiles periodic site condition reports.
5. Coordinates
repair of petroleum pumps and card reader equipment with current APO vendors.
6. Prepares
and codes fuel cards for magnetic reader in fuel pumps; responds to calls to
provide minor maintenance of pumps and card readers.
7. Monitors
fuel deliveries to verify accuracy of volume delivered to the invoice amount.
8. Performs
weekly tank gauge testing on underground storage tanks of up to 2,000 gallon
capacity; records daily stick readings of tanks over 2,000 gallons; completes
periodic tank reports and analyzes for possible fuel loss.
9. Keeps
vehicle washing facilities and fuel sites clean and in compliance with
regulatory requirements; maintains inventory levels of all required supplies.
10. Operates
a microcomputer to maintain records and prepare reports and other documents.
11. Supervises work activities for community
service and court and jail prisoner workers.
12. Coordinates
annual line and tank tightness tests required by the Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA); ensures reports are submitted to agencies.
13. Schedules
fuel pump calibration test and coordinates with a certified mechanic.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Considerable
knowledge
of governmental regulations pertaining to fuel storage sites and operating
systems.

activities of assigned staff.
ACCEPTABLE
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Completion of
high school; at least two (2) years of experience in operation and
maintenance of fuel storage and dispensing systems; at least one (1) year of
experience with computerized dispensing systems; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides
the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
ADDITIONAL
REQUIREMENT:
Must possess
a valid Arkansas Class C (Commercial Vehicle) Driver's License before
employment and maintain licensure for duration of employment in this position.
