JOB DESCRIPTION

 

 

JOB TITLE:  Food/Transportation Worker

 

MAINTENANCE REVIEW DATE:  December 1998

 

ORG/POS #:  1460/2138

 

JOB OBJECTIVE:  To ensure food items are properly stored and distributed to day-care classes; operates a van to transport day-care students.

 

ACCOUNTABILITY:  Receives general supervision from the Administrative Assistant I.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

1.         Picks up snack food item orders and fruit from vendors for the day-care program according to established menus.

 

2.         Receives food supplies and checks invoices to ensure food listed has been received; removes food items from cartons and places on shelves.

 

3.         Divides food quantities according to classroom enrollment; delivers items to classrooms.

 

4.         Completes weekly food inventory reports of items purchased, distributed, and quantities remaining in stock; submits reports to the Administrative Assistant I.

 

5.         Operates a van to transport day-care children on field trips, deliver mail to City Hall, and pick up needed supplies.

 

6.         Reviews monthly menus to determine necessary food items; notifies supervisor of needed purchases.

 

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1.         Performs minor maintenance, such as replacing water cups, rest room supplies, and changing light bulbs and filters.

 

2.         Performs daily custodial duties, which include mopping up spills, emptying ash trays, and arranging chairs in meeting rooms.

 

3.         Maintains vehicle records regarding locations visited and mileage.

 

4.         Performs other related duties as required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

 

Good knowledge of driving safety rules and regulations.

 

Familiarity with simple vehicle maintenance procedures.

 

Skill in the operation of light and medium duty passenger vehicles.

 

Ability to maintain accurate records.

 

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

 

Ability to lift and carry weights of up to 75 pounds.

 

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

 

Ability to check invoices for accuracy.

 

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: 

 

Completion of grade school;  at least one year of experience in stocking supplies; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver’s License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position.
