JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Firefighter (Training)
MAINTENANCE REVIEW DATE: November 1993

JOB OBJECTIVE: To provide training in fire-fighting methods
and standards to new firefighters and to develop and present special training
programs to all Fire Department personnel.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Receives general supervision from the
Battalion Chief (Training).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Researches fire-fighting standards and
other materials to gather information needed to develop training programs for
all Fire Department divisions.
2. Presents training classes to all
fire-fighting personnel in all divisions.
3. Presents information regarding fire
prevention and safety to school and civic groups and other organizations
requesting training programs.
4. Presents training in first aid,
fire-fighting methods and standards to new firefighters.
5. Provides information regarding
fire-fighting methods and related materials as requested by other Firefighters
preparing to be tested in those areas; determines whether firefighters being
tested have passed or failed.
6. Provides information needed to update
fire-fighting standards.
7. Performs all fire-fighting duties as assigned due to emergencies, major alarms, or absences.
