JOB TITLE: Equipment Operator I (Landfill)

OBJECTIVE: To operate various trucks to transport
equipment, materials or work crews to work sites and to perform manual tasks as
required.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Receives direct supervision from the Equipment Operator -
Leader.
ESSENTIAL
JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Operates
light and heavy duty trucks to transport materials to assigned work sites or
dumping areas.
2. Checks
assigned equipment daily to assure that tire pressure, fuel, oil and other
fluid levels are sufficient; adds oil, fuel or other fluids as required.
3. Notifies
supervisor of equipment malfunctions and major maintenance needed; transports
equipment to maintenance shop after receiving completed work orders for repair
or maintenance.
4. Operates
hand tools and pumps.
5. Performs
unskilled laboring tasks as required.
6. Performs
other related duties as required.

difficulty in operating various equipment.

Operates
light and medium duty equipment to transport equipment, work crews and
materials to work sites.
Checks
equipment before operation to assure that all fuel and other fluid levels are
sufficient.
Notifies
supervisor of equipment malfunctions.
Operates hand
tools to perform various tasks.
Serves as
backup to leaders or crew leaders during absences.
Performs
other related duties as required.
REQUIRED
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Some
knowledge
of maintenance requirements for light and medium duty trucks.
Skill in the operation of light
and medium duty trucks and trailers.
Skill in the operation of hand
tools.
Skill in the operation of hand
and tractor mounted mowing equipment.
Ability to follow simple oral and
written instructions.
Ability to perform manual labor in
all weather conditions.
Ability to locate assigned work
sites from instructions or maps.
ACCEPTABLE
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Completion of
grade school; at least one year of experience in the operation of light
and medium duty trucks and trailers; OR
any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the
required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess
or be able to obtain a valid Arkansas Class A or B Commercial Driver's License
before employment.
Must possess
or be able to obtain Landfill Operator Certification within one year of
employment.
