JOB
OBJECTIVE: To provide clerical support for the
preparation and maintenance of the court docket, case materials for DWI
defendants, and the issuance of warrants and subpoenas for defendants to appear
in Municipal Court.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Receives general supervision from the Chief Court Clerk.
ESSENTIAL
JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Prepares
the docket, organizes case materials in proper docket order, including the
pulling of files for each court proceeding.
2. Establishes
files and maintains confidential records of all court proceedings, first
offense alcohol violations, alcohol statistical case data, and disposition of
cases.
3. Monitors
Judge's docket sheets to ensure correct docket entries.
4. Prepares
and issues subpoenas for witnesses; calls and swears in witnesses for each
case.
5. Issues
warrants for the arrest of persons forfeiting bonds, notifies appropriate
bondsman.
6. Obtains
arrest packets from the Violations Department; separates packet materials and
completes required documents for plea arraignment.
7. Operates
microcomputer to check City and State driving record on each pending case;
obtains records of all prior violations; certifies convictions and waiver
records for other jurisdictions as requested.
8. Prepares
forms and documents for committing defendants to jail; collects fees for appeal
to Circuit Court.
9. Completes
documents required for cases appealed to Circuit Court; forwards required court
records to Circuit Clerk within established deadlines and testifies in court as
required.
10. Computes
traffic ticket fines and additional charges; enters correct amount on the
ticket for collection; prepares warrant for arrest of persons failing to pay
parking and traffic fines.
11. Provides
assistance to defendants regarding application for restricted drivers' licenses
and the updating of temporary licenses.
12. Screens
and verifies information regarding the history of DWI defendants; ensures
pre-sentence screening reports are included in each defendant file.

13. Prepares
formal judgment forms and certifies copies of judgments for use by state
agencies, other courts, attorneys, and the City Attorney's Office.
14. Provides
information to defendants, witnesses, attorneys, Family Service Agency
representatives, and members of the public who call or visit the court
regarding court procedures; directs individuals to the appropriate staff or
agency.
15. Transmits
court-ordered reinstatements to driver control to release suspensions on
failure-to-appear tickets.
16. Prepares
all materials required for transfer cases to other courts, judges, orders, and
felony commitment papers.
17. Obtains
files for each court proceeding and organizes case materials in proper docket
order.
18. Prepares
final disposition and charge reports for arrest tracking for ACIC.
19. Prepares
court orders for release of impounded vehicles.
20. Collects
fees for preparation of records, bonds, and notices filed.
