JOB TITLE:  Automotive Parts Clerk - Senior

 

MAINTENANCE REVIEW DATE:  December 1997

JOB OBJECTIVE:  To supervise the daily operations of the Fleet Equipment Storerooms, ensuring cost-effective, quality automotive parts, materials and supplies for vehicle maintenance and repairs.

 

ACCOUNTABILITY:  Receives general direction from the Fleet Supply Specialist.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

1.         Supervises and directs the activities of the Fleet Equipment Storerooms, ensuring inventory control and the storage and issue of parts, supplies and materials for vehicle maintenance and repairs.

 

2.         Monitors the placement of items in the storeroom to ensure proper storing for safety, maximum space utilization, easy access and identification.

 

3.         Provides assistance to the Fleet Supply Specialist in obtaining statistical data and information for the development of cost-effective supply contracts for automotive parts, supplies and materials.

 

4.         Develops and supervises a system of bar coding parts, supplies and encoding vendor information for updating the inventory and management information system database to ensure accurate parts and supplies information.

 

5.         Reviews daily purchase orders, invoices and the charging of parts on repair; ensures accuracy and corrects discrepancies.

 

6.         Conducts scheduled inventories to ensure adequate stock levels of automotive parts, supplies, and materials at remote shop locations.

 

7.         Picks up arts, supplies and materials from vendors in the absence of the Automotive Parts Clerk.

 

8.         Operates a City pool automobile in the performance of essential job functions.

 

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1.         Reviews inventory records for accuracy and to ensure stock control relative to the maintenance of minimum and maximum parts and supplies in stock.

 

2.         Ensures the maintenance of parts, supplies and material records by each maintenance unit such as the number of items requisitioned, items ordered and delivered.

3.         Ensures the contact of vendors to locate automotive parts, materials, and supplies, oversees the placement of orders and conducts necessary follow-up to ensure delivery of merchandise within required time period.

 

4.         Prepares a monthly unit storeroom activity report.

 

5.         Provides assistance in the preparation of the annual budget for parts supplies and materials.

 

6.         Monitors warranty information and tracks warranties on parts purchased for part performance and part failure statistics.

 

7.         Ensures the purging of obsolete or slow moving parts from inventory based on an established criteria.

 

8.         Supervises and maintains a system of specialized tools for issue to fleet mechanics.

 

9.         Performs other related duties as required.

Provides general supervision to Automotive Parts Clerks.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Skill in the use of a microcomputer.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

 

Completion of high school; at least two (2) years experience in automotive parts inventory and automotive repair work; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:

 

Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver’s License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position.
