ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Plans
maintenance and project work; schedules and assigns work activities and reviews
the work of golf course maintenance crews at assigned golf courses; selects,
trains, and provides necessary disciplinary action for assigned personnel. Reviews the work of work crews and
independent contractors performing golf course construction, renovation,
reconstruction, and maintenance to ensure work is completed according to
specifications. Prepares annual schedule
for fertilizer application and overseeding of golf courses, specifying types of
plant material and fertilizers to be used and rate of application. Prepares bid specifications for chemical
purchases. Verifies invoices with
purchases and proper budget account charges; forwards completed invoices for
payment. Ensures that golf course
facilities (i.e., bathrooms, pavilions, shelters) are clean and in working
order. Ensures inventory control
procedures are followed. Monitors
expenditures to ensure the availability of funds; ensure expenditures are within
established guidelines. Assigns
equipment to golf courses to accomplish work objectives. Inspects golf course for damage, plant
disease, debris and proper operation of sprinkler system. Operates a City pool automobile in the
performance of essential job functions.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND
TRAINING: Completion of two (2) years of college level coursework in
Horticulture, Agronomy, Agriculture, or a related field, four (4) years of
experience in golf course maintenance including
two (2) years of experience with bent grass greens, one (1) year of
supervisory experience. Equivalent
combinations of education and experience will be considered.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Candidate must
successfully complete drug/alcohol screening.

Must
possess Arkansas State Plant Board Commercial Applicator License, Category 6,
Ornamental Weed Control, within six (6) months of employment and maintain
licensure for the duration of employment in this position.

Must
possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver’s License
before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this
position.
